APABA-MD's Judicial Nominations Committee interviews and recommends qualified candidates who apply to fill judicial vacancies in Maryland courts. Under the Maryland Constitution, the Governor fills new vacancies in the judiciary with the assistance of the State's Judicial Nominating Commission. The various bar associations in Maryland, including APABA-MD, separately interviews candidates and offers its own endorsement of candidates they deem qualified and fit to be a member of the bench.
